Yoga practice is good for everyone but not the same for everybody. That is, every body and everybody's needs are different. Henrica offers a variety of styles in every yoga class to help students find balance in breath, body, movement and mind. And it is her personal goal to make every body feel comfortable so that everyone enjoys the rewards and benefits of yoga practice.
Regular yoga practice is a powerful way to nourish self-care. Whether it is hatha yoga, vinyasa yoga, restorative or yin yoga, a consistent practice improves strength and balance, mobility and flexibility, and also helps to improve endurance for other physical activities. Henrica tailors her style to the students' needs, offers modifications if necessary or an additional challenge if preferred.
Yoga is not only about physical wellbeing. Yoga is about the mind and based on the teachings of yoga such as Patanjali's sutras. Regular yoga practice helps calm the mind through focused breath work, engaging in mindfulness and practicing meditation. Henrica knows firsthand how yoga helps deal with the stresses and challenges in life, and how important it is to breathe. Focused on building a foundation in yoga practice with detailed instruction in the asanas or postures, breath work and functional movement awareness. Learn the importance of starting in Tadasana, or mountain pose, rather than seated on a mat, as an example of functional movement awareness. A gentle Hatha yoga class is a good starting place for beginners!
A practice focused on releasing areas of tension in the body and calming the mind using yoga props such as bolsters and blankets to deepen the workings of this relaxing approach.
A energizing blended flow of poses that works coordination, movement and breath. Henrica starts her Vinyasa yoga class with a focused warm up tailored for the energetic flow of sequences. An energetic vinyasa yoga class is typically best for those with some yoga experience.
